St Nicholas Prayer Shawl Ministry

The idea behind this ministry began in 1998 at the Hartford Seminary in Connecticut.

Compassion and the love of knitting/crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry which reaches out to those in need of comfort and God's strength. Many blessings are prayed into every stitch.

The shawl makers begin with prayers and blessings for the recipient. Upon completion a blessing is prayed over the shawl by the whole congregation in Sunday Worship at Church before it is sent on its way.

This ministry has been greatly appreciated and we have also been blest as a Church family in receiving letters of thanks from those receiving the shawls.

Sunday School at Hardwicke Church

St Nicholas Church Sunday School meets during the 11.00am service on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, all children are welcome. On the 2nd Sunday each month children take part in our family friendly "Storyteller" Service also at Hardwicke Church at 11.00am

Our Church Primary Academies at Hardwicke and Longney

Both our Schools are Academies and part of the Diocese of Gloucester Academies Trust (DGAT).
The aim of DGAT is to provide children of all faiths and none with excellent educational provision
which transforms lives within a caring and supportive Christian ethos.

There are currently nine Church of England Primary Schools from across Gloucestershire
which are part of the Trust and fulfilling its vision to build and sustain a community of learning
where staff and pupils can realise their potential and enjoy life in all its fullness..

Hardwicke Primary Academy is a large two class entry primary school with over 400 on roll. The school is set in in its own grounds with large playing fields and separate playgrounds. There is also a school environmental area with a large pond. It is currently judged "Good" by Ofsted. Click on the logo above to see more.

Longney Primary Academy is a small village school with a family atmosphere, it has over 100 on roll. The school is set in in its own grounds in a beautiful setting opposite the Parish Church, close to the River Severn.
